The Association of Educational Computing and Technology 2019 Conference #AECT2019 received 991 presentation proposals for its Las Vegas event. I’m honored that my proposal, Punchline Pedagogy: Using Cognitive Cartoons to Enhance Online Faculty Training and IDT Courses, was selected. Furthermore, my proposal was awarded 2nd place in Best Proposal category for Division of Distance Learning (DDL). Outgoing DDL President Dr. Victoria Lowell of Purdue University presented my award.

The DDL committee invited me to speak briefly at the awards ceremony and share about my use of cognitive cartoons in instruction. Sharing cartoons like the one above, it was fun laughing with attendees about our common experiences in higher education. Many left with free Captain Big Idea posters, which I gladly issued upon request.

Presentation: “A Thinker’s Approach to Educational Technology”
The Southern California Theological Library Association invited me to speak at their annual meeting at Azusa Pacific University, in Azusa, California. As the sole guest presenter, my morning session focused on helping attendees increase their comfort with educational technology and help others do the same. My second session explored online tools that educators can use to increase their effectiveness.
